Tarot Card is one of the most popular and easy-to-use forms of divination, and one that anyone can learn with a little effort. Though there is evidence to prove that Tarot existed as early as 1392, the origin of the Tarot is known exactly. There has been much speculation, with claims for their having come from Egypt, China, Persia or India. One theory is that it was brought to Europe by the gypsies for fortune telling. Though there are various versions on the origin of the Tarot, no one is able to say it for sure. There are several types of Tarot packs. Modern Tarot decks have 78 cards totally. Out these there are 56 Minor Arcanas (meaning minor mysteries) and 22 Major Arcanas (meaning major mysteries). The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards divided into four suits, each having ten Pip cards and four Court cards. The four different Minor Arcana suits are Pentacles, Cups, Wands and Swords. Pentacles will represent money matters, inheritance, infrastructure, property and stability. Its element is earth. Cups will represent family life, love, emotions and marriage. Its element is water. Wands will represent career, energy and zest. Its element is fire. Swords will represent intellect, conflict pain and thought process. Its element is air. Major Arcanas Major Arcanas deal with the journey of the soul. Some see it as the stages in a process of initiation leading to enlightenment. The element of the Major cards is the Ether or space. Tarot unlike most of the other divination arts tells you what to do in a particular situation rather than telling what would happen to you. Tarot basically is a very divine art through which one can get the guidance of the Divine to scale over various situations in life.
